Do you know that "one out of every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer"?
Do you know that "the
best protection is early detection"?
Do you know that You can examine your breasts in the shower, in
front of a mirror or while lying down?
Do you know that “Forty percent of diagnosed
breast cancers are detected by women who feel a lump, so establishing a regular
breast self-exam is very important.”
"While mammograms can help you to detect cancer
before you can feel a lump, breast self-exams help you to be familiar with how
your breasts look and feel so you can alert your healthcare professional if
there are any changes".
xxo
I actually do this once a while... Nice one mami ..
ReplyDeleteToh haven't tried any before, got to start now. Thanks for the awareness
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I'm supposed to detect wrong when I do that. So what I'm asking is what does the lump feel or look like?
ReplyDeleteAny abnormality I guess is what you should look out for, U won't know if there is a lump if you aren't already familiar with your boobs so start by feeling them.
DeleteLumps are usually in the breast tissue.
@ Vira, That first pic made me lol.I am going to steal it one day.
True @ what Funmi said. Every woman is encouraged to check her boobs so she can get familiar with them. That way, you notice any change at all. When it is swollen, reddish or there is any hardness (lump). Just any abnormal feeling at all is a red flag.
Delete@Funmi, steal on babe!
This is actually very true...coz a lot of people take dis kinda issue with levity which shldnt be...wld start takin dese exercises from now...Aunty ViVi tnx for za awareness.
ReplyDeleteHey Mercy, glad you have decided to do the self exam. Remember to share the word to your fellow sisters. Every woman needs to do this at least once a month.
DeleteThanks luvly!
Thanks ever so much for the reminder. My Aunty's breast cancer was caught in time when she detected a lump. It is important that every woman knows how to feel her breasts for abnormalities. Plus, this should be added to the curriculum - trust me, a lot of lives will be saved! Just thought I would explore your blog - I love it :)
ReplyDeleteHey Yours Truly, thanks for exploring and loving my blog.
ReplyDeleteThat is the message what I am trying to pass across. Early detection is the best, as much as we pray and hope it does not happen to us and our loved ones, it wont hurt to know these things.
Thanks again for stopping by.
@Vira, ehhmmm ... ehmm... **Scratches head... Can I volunteer to help check for the lumps?? #naJokeooo **Runsaway after **FleeingAway
