Hey peoples…
Y’all know how everyone’s father/mother was so brilliant and always took the first position in class?
That’s what comes to mind seeing/reading/hearing everyone come for bullies lately.
So we were all good, juniors loving, never punished, never wicked seniors back in school?
Everyone is suddenly speaking out against bullies and bad guys; which is a good thing but I’m here wondering…
So who was the bad senior back then? Who was the wicked senior back then?
We’re now all saints abi? Who was the senior that sent an eleven year old me to fetch charcoal in an iron? Yes, hot red coal from the fire place, with whatever I could mange to.
Who was the senior that took us to green house to give us the punishment of our lives just because…?
I remember who it was, I remember them…
Or was it my own classmate back in JSS 1 hounding me and making fun of me for wearing glasses and calling me kashin kifi (fish bone) because I was a lanky 11 year old? She did this every time she saw me especially when we went to fetch water… mostly because I could not carry my own bucket and to her, i was just a glasses wearing ajebota from Lagos and so I deserved to be laughed at…
I remember her.
I remember her name.
So I’m sure that other juniors remember you too if you ever bullied them… abi this one that happened to me wasn’t bullying?
So before we become all sanctimonious and call out others, take a moment to think about your own deeds… were you that senior?
If there was social media in your time, would you have trended for being that Senior?
I know for sure I wouldn’t have been...
I pray for little Sylvester and I pray for his family. I hope those boys get caught and brought to book.
And if this post hit a nerve, I hope you are gracious enough to apologize to those whom you bullied and if you still are a bully, (because it doesn’t end in school) I hope you repent because it doesn’t do you or anyone any good; it only causes pain and sorrow and in this case, death.
Let’s do better, lets teach ours better.

ReplyDeleteI see pictures of my seniors then and all I remember is their wickedness. I hope they're changed sha. Being a bully is very pointless and tells of the kind of human you are. I hope they learn and do better
ReplyDeleteGGS Hmmm yola ! saw my senior’s picture as my brother’s dp i was shocked and I got angry cos of what she did to me but that's the past sha. I pray those boys learn their lesson.

ReplyDeleteThe first day I resumed school(jss1)was wen I first experience bullying.omo me still dey find d senior to beat wella,can't forget d incident in years to come.Bullying actually reflect who u are,d darkeness in ur wicked heart and soul,it's so hurtful wen those bullying actually enjoyed every bit of wat they are doing,it just shows how heartless some humans are
ReplyDeleteMy dear good question. Who were the wicked seniors? One Desola gave me one slap one day because she was the dorm captain and I didn't fetch her water for bathing. Water no dey the whole of Feggicolla, so pls will i manufacture water? Decades after, I still remember that slap. I can still count like 10 other seriously wicked seniors. Meanwhile my school was fggc but was learning work when you hear some Command, Navy, Army and FGC gists. It's hard to imagine those witches and wizards are the wives and mothers, husbands and governors of today.

DeleteTruly sad what children have been subjected to even adults are not speared. Domestic bullying is also on the increase.

DeleteI don't think I was ever bullied in secondary school,just that I still remember that senior that connieved with her cousin to steal my provisions that I didn't even need.
ReplyDeleteI get the point of this post but in speaking about everyone calling out bullies and probably not owning up to being one themselves if they were ever bullies, you are also calling your bullies out😂😂😂
ReplyDeleteI believe even some bullies were bullied at one point so if the whole nigeria is calling bullies out, probably every person has something to say. We all just need to be Christians. Be better versions of ourselves so that when we have children or as we raise them-for those who already have- we do not influence them to become monsters or a nuisance in society but better leaders than we already have and solution providers
